The Orbera Gastric Balloon Procedure
Placement and Removal of the Gastric Balloon
Placement of the soft, durable Gastric Balloon in your stomach begins your experience with the Orbera Managed Weight Loss System. Placement and removal of the gastric balloon are nonsurgical bariatric procedures performed at the offices of Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery under light sedation. The minimally-invasive, endoscopic procedure usually takes from 20 to 30 minutes, so you can go home on the very same day.
Gastric Balloon Placement
The thin and deflated Orbera balloon is placed into the stomach and then filled with saline solution until it is about the size of a grapefruit. The soft and durable gastric balloon, which is made of silicone, helps you eat smaller meals and reinforces proper portion control by filling space in your stomach.
Gastric Balloon Removal
At 6 months, the gastric balloon is removed in the same way in which it was placed. The Orbera balloon is first deflated before being removed with a nonsurgical procedure performed under a mild sedative at the offices of Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama.
